Our initial workshops in this module will help us decide the topic that we will be using as a basis for this brief. The workshops are aimed to help us generate a list of 5 things that we believed to be good, there were limited boudaries, therefore we were able to choose anything for our 5 whether that be an emtion like 'happy', a colour ' orange', a celebrity 'Sting'. This task is actually much more difficult than you would think, especially in a timed situation.
The 5 on my list were rather vague and non specific, this is probably an area I need to work on as I think in workshops when we do tasks like this which entail quick under pressure idea generation i think i am probably influenced by others around me or generic things i hear in the class rather than producing a list of 5 things that i actually 100% individually and personally think is good. However we were then asked to list all the factors that we think are good about each point. which gives an opportunity to really refine what it is you like about a topic.
After producing our individual lists we were split into groups of 6 to produce a mutual list of 10 things we all agree are good. Again the outcome is pretty broad but the trouble is that a group of 6 generally will find it difficult to agree on 10 things that they all really do like, as everyone is an individual with different preferences.
Our lists were then rotated groups so every group was given a new list of what others believe is good. We were then asked to identify as many 'bad' things about each of the other groups 10 as possible which was actually a lot easier finding out what is bad about something than what is good about it.
For the next session we were asked to choose a specific individual topic that we believe to be 'good' as well as preferably something that we are interested in as it will help our motivation throughout this brief,
We must find a topic and do some initial research to produce a list of 10 things we think are good about the topic as well as 10 things that are bad about it. with facts found through research to back these points up.
