Design Process - How to travel as a bussinesman- Crit feedback and solutions to feedback

We entered the crit with one man down, but because the previous week we had all gone away and followed our own ideas, so we eventually met up on Friday again with an abundance of different ways of approaching the travel book.

  • My Idea was to focus more so on what a business man might need while he was traveling, focusing on business card holders and receipt logs and storing sections, as well as calenders and maybe not sections.
  • There was other ideas that focused more on the different countries and why they should be invested into by businesses, using flags of the countries and manipulating them into infographics.
  • Another was based more on the culture differences, polite ways of greeting being compared with the rude ways, how to shake hands, how to travel around cities
  • A final idea of the travel side, how to pack a suitcase, fold your clothes etc.
We came away from the crit feeling quite positive about our ideas,  with the intention of taking numerous or individual aspects from the good ideas and putting them together to incorporate the most useful spreads.

After the crit and we sat down and discussed the final concept, layout and imagery of the book, these are a few points we agreed on.
  • Too many countries have been used, maybe limit the amount of countries to lower the workload and make the book more specialised
  • Split the book into 3 separate sections/ categories. These catogaries are, Preparation, communication and organisation, each section will incorporate every bodies chosen ideas and they will be organised according to which category they share the greatest relationship with.
  • PREPARATION - Clothing (how to pack, how to fold clothes, What transport to use (cheapest to quickest), what weather to expect in these areas and travel times / distances between the main cities in both China and America.
  • COMMUNICATION - Languages spoken (both verbal and body language), Business meetings (what to expect as well as what to do), General business culture.
  • ORGANISATION - Business cards (different sizes from both countries and Britain), Notes ( a few pages that can be used to make notes), Calender (based on a diary calender)
