Design Process - How to travel as a bussinesman-Designing the cover

Me and Eve chose a similar Mango colour to that of the stock we were planning on using for the cover, We came to the conclusion that the paper would not be thick enough to make a stirdy proffeisional cover, so it was decided that I would design the cover and try and print it in a print room drop in session, this would allow to to pick a plain, thicker white card from the library and just print the colour onto it which means we get exactly the result we want.
The mango colour chosen can be seen below and we chose a nice Water colour paper which had a really nice thickness and texture for our book.
  • R - 239
  • G - 203
  • B - 28
  • no. EFCB1C

This colour was also then used throughout the book, as well as the website and app design that David was focusing on.

Cover design, Logo and Title.

This is the logo that was decided on. it original as you can see started off following the trend of a passport front cover, with the burgundy colour and golden emblem in the center. Early on in the brief we thought that we would try to emboss the cover, but after the changes over the past couple of days then it will have to be developed to meet the new criteria.
Below are some of the variations of the new design. I also did variations, putting the sleeves and cuff's of the hands on but they didn't fit the simplicity that we are going for.

We dicided on the design below, small and simple. the dimensions of the page are
  • Width - 297mm
  • Height - 215mm
Tese dimensions are necessary for the cover to have a 5mm lip all the way around the book. as each page size will be just a little smaller than A5 due to print limitations and trimming of the printed inner sheets.
