Design Practice 1 // Stamp it - Further Development

The text incorporated onto the stamps will have to be small and short, so ideally a small 1 or 2 phrase would be ideal but maybe not sensible.

Options of slogans or quotes
  • 'You're not the only one who left the tv on standby tonight'
  • 'What are you on standby for?'
  • 'Standby Me'
  • 'Standby UK'
  • 'Standby Off'
  • 'On standby for what?'
Facts are also an option.
  • 10% of residential electricity use is Standby Power
  • In the UK alone, on average there are 900 million products on standby just in peoples homes.
  • Every year the UK alone produces around 3.1 million tonnes of CO2 just from standby power.

Below are some of the options I came up with for the slogans above.

This one for example would be too large to fit onto every stamp. This could be the leading stamp, and the dots continue on the remiaing ones, however, if I did this, it would still not help the stamps individually communicate.

These are options for smaller text to fit onto every stamp, these are more like commands rather than inspirational sayings.
Using the letter 'O' is also helping visualise the text, to allow a clear connection between the picture, text and message.

I added some of the phrases to the stamps to my existing stamps to see how they would work together, I also wanted an additional 2 stamps to allow a more gentle increase of dots throughout the set.
